Using photography, I was able to experience a new medium and capture moments of utter silence, in addition to the theme of loneliness, which the nighttime contributed to. I created this piece to represent loneliness utilizing the first snow and its impact on the environment. This piece was my own idea and no direct method used by another artist.

Meaning of the Artwork
Although it had snowed for the first time on December 11 since the beginning of winter, I had paid no attention to it, and was very immersed in completing my studies for other classes and studing for an upcoming, tough test. It was at night around 11 p.m. Sunday that I had looked outside my window for the first time since coming home from school Friday. The snow was dazzling and pure white as it cloacked my entire vision. I layed upon cars, streets, tress, and just about anything unsheltered. It had shocked me, since I really hate the snow, and it had inspired me to create my silence piece. As I went outside that night, wrapped in a blanked as an armor, I was able to walk and admire the snows beauty. I had decided to take pictures at first due to it's beauty, but what really inspired me to take these pictures weren't merely the snows appearance, it was also due to the silence and loneliness it had emitted. The loneliness I had felt gazing upon the snow inspired me to recreate and portray what I had felt and seen at that moment. With no one in sight, no soul to wander the streetss, and the quiet feel in the atmosphere, it seemed to me like sadness and depression. Although, it is a very beautiful thing, a nature that contains elegance and grace, it also has it's downside of being in a constant state of alienation due to it's cold nature and death bringing touch. I chose the theme f loneliness and sadness because that is the emotion I experience most of the time during my school years and just anytime during my lifetime. I feel sadness because I don't hold anyone close to my heart, it is not my nature to grieve over anyone, nor can I understand anyones feeling, thus I feel sadness and an alienation due to being emotionless. This piece holds beauty yet is very lonely. It's equivalent as looking at a very attractive person and think they'd be very interesting to be friends with, however, the person ends up being a disappointment. In this case, the snow appears very beautiful, yet holds no feelings of cheerfulness, it is full of depression and solitude.
Artistic Inspiration
ACT Questions
1) The case and effect relationship between my artwork and the inspiration is held within the theme and appearance of the photos. As I took the photos, I had hoped to recreate a sort of feeling that may have pierced the viewers heart the same as Wendell had done mine. The images portrayed something while having an opposite meaning, it doesn't look inviting yet it makes it feel beautiful and inviting, the same exact feeling I was going with my photos.
2) My artist inspiration, Wendell, deals with photos that depict the true nature of settings. She tends to capture the beauty that something dangerous may contain. She also utilizes all sorts of settings and captures them in all sorts of places to bring out what people are missing in their lives, which is the appreciation of what the world has to offer to us ungrateful humans.
3) While I was researching my topic, I was introduced to the beauty of photography, as I've never known that photography can capture such beautiful moments of nature, and as I kept searching for photographers, I found many that chose to capture different moments of different times, also humans, animals, bugs, industry, and just about anything which aids in solidifying the moment.
4) The central idea and theme around my inspiration is the contradiction of photos. As some of the photos that Wendell displays condradicts itself, or would view it as it appears, such as a fire appearing sky that overlooks a tree, thus calling it fire tree, in contrast, I attempt to portray the inner feeling a photo holds. Such as the loneliness of snow qith everyone staying in their homes to avoid its freezing touch.
5) The conclusion I came up to after researching my topic was that the only way to capture a moment in time, is a photography medium. It portarys human emotion and neglection of what the world has to offer. In addition, it grew my appreciation towards the earth that I've overlooked and never thought had it's own beauty. Photography allows me to view things that I may never witness in my lifetime, thus holds a great appreciation worldwide.

Process/Experimentation
There is no need for a process sketch. In photography, what counts as process sketches are the pictures you take as practice, or merely as many pictures you attempt to capture as possible. Try to take as many pictures as you can in as many places as you are able to. I did not have enough time to take as many pictures in as many places as I can, due to procrastination, or it is more of not having enough time to accomplish as many things as I'd like. The pictures that I took had a different tone and value of colors to them than the pictures presented. I had utilized the tool that was on my phone to manipulate the contrast and highlight of the pictures and gave them a very different appearance and view. I took photos right outside my house, it was a few hours after it had snowed, I used no particular method of photo taking, I tried to stay as still as I possibly could have, however, was not very successful with all the photos. I kept shivering and was very cold that the flash went out at the wrong moment that disturbed the momentum of the image.
I did not use any photoshop tool, except the tool that changed the contrast and highlight on my phone, besides that, I did not utilize a specific program, nor have I changed anything out of context. What you in the photo is exactly what I captured, aside from the color manipulation. I also tried to experiment with different settings, such as the playgrounf view, the tree view, or of garbage can that had snow on it. I also tried a few photos from the daylight, yet I prefered the dark setting as it provided a better backing to the theme of isolation and silence.
I had no idea which pictures to use from some of the photos I've captured, however, after some digital manipulation, I was able to decide on the one that conveyed the most contrast and value of color.

Reflection
I Had no idea what I wanted to utilize for my last medium, then I figured that I have not tried photography, thus decided upon it. It worked in my favor that it has snowed, which played a very big factor towards my theme and inspiration.
Advantages I had was the fact that it snowed that day when I decided upon photography, in addition, I lived near a place that contained many attractive looking areas, or they are ordinary, however through photography and with the snow, they looked very beautiful.
My disadvantages were: I had not a good actual camera, and I did not know exactly what I wanted to capture until looking over the photos and deciding on a theme that all photos had in common. I have no previous knowledge or experience in picture taking. Also, it was very cold and I was wearing very little, thus, could not take many picturesto compliment and complete my theme.
As for the theme, I had no trouble deciding, since I chose themes that relate strongly to my personality and feelings, and what I harbor towards certain things. Such as the kindness and love I cannot cultivate towards any person besides family. I had asked my classmates about their thoughts toward my photographs, and they had said that it appears as a mystery. A picture that holds mystery in which none can decipher, although the picture may appear as such, it holds none but isolation. Perhaps it may contribute to the theme of loneliness. As mystery and loneliness go hand in hand.
