Going to the Marshall Art Building, I was able to speak with the artist Jim Krahn. As I spoke to him, he mentioned that it wasn't long until he started his art career. He began at least 15 years ago while he was in his 50's. That he wanted to create something, which led to his art focus.
As I questioned him about his art, he said that he painted his experiences and all the places he had seen by memory. Also, mentioning that he was most inspired by nature. His love and use of colors is inspired by mood, which also leads to his interest in the contrast of dark to light colors.
He also mentioned that he used mostly oil colors to create his paintings, however, occasionally would use acrylic. It takes him about 2 days to 3 months to complete an artwork depending of size and the idea of going back after it dries to paint over the already painted canvas.
