I visited the Marshall Art Building yet again, and was happened upon Richard W. Patt. I began speaking to him about his paintings and his drive to be an artist.
He spoke of growing up on a barn, therefore, his inspiration and consistent use of the farm scene to depict his love of art. Tends to use many colors, and since a barn is dull in color, he uses that as an excuse to manipulate many colors and textures to give life to the dull rural area and landscape.
He does not use any sorts of reference for his art, as he says, "It all comes from my head", however, he does rely on linear patterns to gain ideas.
When I asked why he became an artist, he said that there was never really decision making, that he knew he was an artist from deep within, and that it was his destiny. Every good artist knows that they're destined to follow that path and the face the challenges which causes you to achieve better results.
